Circa 1870, lovely quality black Victorian Whitby jet mourning brooch in an elegant marquise shape with saw-tooth design and pierced edges. It features four delicately carved forget-me-not flowers against a bas relief background.
This is a wonderful example of mourning jewellery to honour the death of a loved one. It is a beautiful decorative piece, genuine artisan-made jewellery and highly collectible.
There is a heavy duty pin on the reverse in good working order. The brooch is in good vintage condition with a hair line crack at one end but not noticeable when worn. I had to magnify it to properly see it. There is also slight wearing to one outer edge.
It would make a lovely gift and looks stylish making a statement worn on any outfit.
